Not only was that event sweeter than honey for me, I delved into poetry, and non-fiction. The latter was out of spite given what happened.
I never hated fiction, but I preferred more realistic stories.
Once I got into the works of W. E. B. DuBois, Winona LaDuke, and others, I couldn’t go back to magic, swords, and mythical creatures.
