“I was going to surprise you after opening night, so I guess I better say it now.” I took a deep breath before finishing my thought. “I want you to me Maiara, the lead heroine.”
Darina gasped and covered her mouth.
I could tell that she was processing what was going on.
“I can’t believe it…” She was a quarter of the way to tears.
“Hey, I’m sorry if this is too soon, but I wanted–”
She quickly interrupted me.
“No, don’t be sorry, Earl.” Darina cut in. “You’re the first person to cast me as a heroine in my life.”
The Dragon Witch was about to be a clearly defined protagonist and she hugged me.
