The next day, I went to my regular job.
I rang up a customer who bought a few bags of coffee, a sari, and some small custom-made toys for her kids.
“That’ll be forty dollars.” I told her.
She inserted her debit card and the transaction was set.
I bagged her things and gave her the receipt.
“Thanks for supporting Global Heaven.” It was almost rehearsed saying that, but the next part wasn’t. “All those artisans and coffee workers will appreciate your purchase.”
That’s right. I worked retail, but not like those big box bullies.
