I thought that way for years and I wish Mrs. Reynosa was in my life earlier.

Everything I did was under a microscope.

“Paulson, you’re useless.”

“Paulson, why can’t you be like the other kids?”

“Your parents should’ve taught you better. Oh wait, they’re dead.”

These were things that other kids and even teachers told me for the longest time. I never got failing grades, but each A I got and every project I did was two things for me.

Proof of my competence.

…And a big middle finger to everyone who doubted me.
