“This story takes place in an alternate present in a giant fortress city.” Corinne began explaining. “There are other aerial cities around, and people travel with airships, hover skates, and the occasional dirigible.”
“Really? Tell me more.” That was a great hook to a story.
“The main character’s name is Haydee Windshrike. She’s a daredevil hover skater who accidentally discovers a governmental plot to oppress the lower class in this city and she is on the run from their agents.” She further talked about her story. “Basically, the whole story happens in the air in some way, shape, or form. It’s as if I want the sky to be an ocean of sorts and these airships are giant islands.”
“Whoah! That sounds awesome. When are you going to start writing it?” I enthusiastically wondered.
“Um…sometime before I graduate high school?” The confidence in her voice fell from several fathoms.
Her eye contact broke with mine.
